About this guide
Who's behind Visit Chobe?
An independent guide to Chobe National Park, built on the DWNP fee schedule, the lodges' own websites and published research, with a date on every figure.
What this site is
Visit Chobe is an independent visitor guide to Chobe National Park in northern Botswana, published by Visit Africa Publishers. It is not run by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, a lodge, a tour operator or a booking site, and it does not sell trips. Its job is to answer the questions a traveller has before going: what the park costs, where you can sleep, which gate to use, when the river floods and what you are likely to see.
Chobe needs that more than most parks. Kasane hotels are often sold as Chobe National Park lodges although they are outside the boundary, many pages still quote the P120 entry fee that ended in March 2022, and the park authority has no website of its own. This guide sets those things straight and dates every claim.
How the guide is funded
Some outbound links, for example to hire cars or flights, earn us a small commission when you book through them, and those links are marked as paid links. The guide sells no trips and takes no fees from lodges.
It changes nothing on the page. Listing a lodge, camp or campsite is free, the order of every list follows the same rule for everyone (inside the park first, then by price), and no position, review or figure can be bought. Every outbound lodge link is nofollow, so a listing here is information, not a traded favour.
Where the numbers come from
Park fees come from the government's own documents: the 2022 fee schedule under the National Parks and Game Reserves Regulations, which carries Chobe's separate vehicle column, and the Ministry of Finance Savingram of December 2025 behind the postponed 2026 increase. Lodge rates come from the lodges' own websites where they publish them, and from named booking sites where they do not, marked as such. Wildlife figures come from the aerial surveys and peer-reviewed papers they were published in, climate from thirty-year Open-Meteo normals, and malaria advice from NaTHNaC.
When the authority publishes no figure, that is what we report. DWNP publishes no upper age for the children's half rate, Kwalate Safaris publishes no rate for Ihaha, and nobody has published a lion or leopard count for the park, so the pages say exactly that and stop.
What is not for sale
- A place on any list, or a higher place than the rule gives.
- A softer description of a lodge's location, price or child policy.
- Any fee, rate or distance on the site.
- Removal of an accurate but unwelcome fact.
Corrections
Fees, rates and roads change, and this guide will sometimes be behind. If you find something out of date, write to us through the Ask page with what you saw and when, and the page changes the same week. Every change a reader would notice goes into the public changelog.
Elsewhere in the family
Visit Chobe belongs to a small set of independent guides to African parks, including Moremi to the south-west in Botswana and Hwange across the border in Zimbabwe. They share a method, not a sales funnel: official fees, every place to stay listed on the same terms, nothing sold.
